The week began with a cold snap followed by some heavy rain that has
photograph on the left, below.  In spite of this a lot of work has been
done.  Top floor bathrooms now fully tiled - and the two bedrooms have
received the final concrete screed prior to the wood floors being laid.  A lot
more plastering has been done and the bathrooms for the two main
bedrooms on the first floor are ready to be tiled.
The bathroom

bedroom is

The re-roofed loggia has been
plastered as well.
The last stage before the wood floors
are laid is to apply a final smooth layer,
as has been done on the upper floor of
the cottage (below).

cottage this week.  After a lot of debate, we have opted for pioppo instead
of castagna, because this will produce a lighter, less artificially "vecchio"
effect .

For exactly the same reason, we have now decided not to house the two
stufe (wood burning stoves) in stone fireplaces in the drawing room and
the library.  Instead they will be freestanding on inset stone plinths.  This
means that the only stone fireplace housing a stufa will be the existing one
in the main reception room on the first floor.
