A mixed week. Cottage still not there - but at the week's end the finishing
line is in sight. The main house - some big jobs completed, but a lot more
still to be done.
The specialists - plumbers, electricians, wood-floor layers and door/window
company name - "Due A" - stayed away all week until Friday, when they
appeared en-masse to begin laying the underfloor heating on the first
floor. As they don't normally work on Saturdays, it was a miracle that the
"Due A-s" reappeared the following morning, staying until lunchtime. If all
goes well, they should be done on the two floors - first and cantina - by
Wednesday.

The electrician is proving to be the most slippery of the specialists. He
appeared briefly on Friday, put-up some lights he'd promised to install
weeks ago, littered the place with his cigarette butts and then screeched
weeks ahead.
The supplier of the wood for the upper floors has failed to provide a
"pavimento" of his own to lay the timber. So late Friday, Mauritzio, our
geometra, has appointed a substitute, who begins laying the floor in the
cottage on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the builders have worked steadily on plastering, tiling and
painting. Gradually, they are reducing the number of outstanding tasks.
Their next big effort - once the plumbers are done, is laying the pianelli in
the main reception rooms.
The laying of the insulation layer and then the plastic piping for the underfloor heating in the library. Master plumber Antonio - wearing the baseball cap - in charge.
